WACKER benennt neu erworbene Pharmaprotein-Produktion SynCo Bio Partners B.V. in den Niederlanden in Wacker Biotech B.V. um
„Die Namensänderung in Wacker Biotech B.V. ist der nächste wichtige Schritt, um die Integration von SynCo Bio Partners in den WACKER-Konzern weiter voranzutreiben. Die beiden bislang getrennten Unternehmen bilden jetzt auch namentlich eine Einheit und sind ein neuer, starker Partner im Bereich der mikrobiellen Lohnherstellung“, sagt Dr. Susanne Leonhartsberger, Geschäftsführerin der Wacker Biotech GmbH. Die Umbenennung in Wacker Biotech B.V. tritt am 1. November 2018 in Kraft. „Auch für die Mitarbeiter in Amsterdam ist dies ein wichtiger Meilenstein. Die Umbenennung dokumentiert sichtbar ihre Zugehörigkeit zu WACKER“, ergänzt Dr. Jörg Lindemann, Geschäftsführer der Wacker Biotech B.V..
Der Produktionsstandort in Amsterdam beschäftigt rund 110 Mitarbeiter und verfügt über zwei Fermentationslinien sowie eine Linie mit Einwegfermentern und eine Fill-and-Finish-Anlage. Darin werden pharmazeutische Wirkstoffe für die klinische Prüfung, aber auch für die Marktversorgung hergestellt. „Durch die Übernahme von SynCo Biopartners haben wir als Hersteller von biopharmazeutischen Proteinen unsere Marktposition nachhaltig gestärkt“, sagt Leonhartsberger. Der WACKER-Konzern hat dadurch sein Technologie- und Dienstleistungs-Portfolio sowie seine Möglichkeiten erweitert, biopharmazeutische Proteine kosteneffizient herzustellen. Zudem haben sich durch die Akquisition die Produktionskapazitäten von WACKER für Pharmawirkstoffe verdoppelt. Eine wertvolle Ergänzung des Know-hows von WACKER als Vollservice-Anbieter ist die Kompetenz von SynCo Bio Partners bei der Produktion von Biopharmaka mit Lebendbakterien. Diese stellen eine vielversprechende neue Wirkstoffklasse dar, die innovative Therapien für schwere Erkrankungen und neue Impfstoffe ermöglicht, beispielsweise gegen Cholera. Branchenexperten prognostizieren für den globalen Biopharmazeutika-Markt bis zum Jahr 2025 eine durchschnittliche Wachstumsrate von 13,8 Prozent.
